The island’s vast reserves of rare earth elements, essential for modern technologies, have attracted global interest. However, China’s direct involvement in Greenland remains minimal, with its primary engagement being fish imports valued at over $350 million in 2022 . Denmark has proactively enhanced Greenland’s defense, investing over $2 billion in Arctic security measures, including naval vessels and surveillance systems . Greenlandic leaders have firmly rejected any notion of U.S. acquisition, emphasizing their sovereignty and desire for self-determination .
