Rashtriya Raksha University (RRU) was established to meet the requirement of high-quality trained manpower in various organs of Police, Criminal Justice, and Correctional Administration. The government upgraded Raksha Shakti University established by the Government of Gujarat in 2010 and named it Rashtriya Raksha University. This university is an institution of national importance. It started its operation in October 2020. The university will develop synergies with the private sector by leveraging knowledge and resources from industry and will also set up centers of excellence in various areas related to police and security.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi has dedicated to the nation a new campus building complex of the Rashtriya Raksha University (RRU) at Lavad village near Gandhinagar, Gujarat. PM also addressed the first convocation of RRU Gandhinagar as a Chief Guest. The University, which is an Institution of National Importance, commenced its operations from 1st October 2020.
RRU conducts academic courses from diploma to doctoral level in various fields
Rashtriya Raksha University (RRU) offers diversified courses including Police Science and Management, Criminal Law and Justice, CyberPsychology, Information Technology, Artificial Intelligence and Cyber Security, Crime Investigation, Strategic Languages, Internal Defense and Strategy, Physical Education and Sports, Coastal and Maritime Security such as Police from diploma to doctoral level in various areas of internal security. Presently 822 students from 18 states are enrolled in these programs. Several universities such as National Law University, Defense University, and Forensic Science University are located in Gandhinagar.
