Officials reported that a suspected terrorist died in a significant explosion in the Majitha Road Bypass region of Amritsar, Punjab.
The explosion occurred on Tuesday morning at approximately 9:30 am. As reported by local media, the man’s arms were severed in the explosion. Initially regarded as a case of improper handling of explosives, officials are now exploring a potential terror connection.
Local inhabitants, surprised by the deafening blast, hurried to the location and promptly alerted the authorities. Officials arrived quickly and initiated an inquiry. Initially, authorities excluded the participation of gang members or terrorists, suspecting that the individual – thought to be a scrap metal dealer – was possibly trying to take apart an old bomb discovered in the metal debris, which detonated while he was working.
The wounded man was hurried to the hospital in serious condition. Later in the day, a government representative confirmed to news agency ANI that the person is a “suspected terrorist.”
