Satwiksairaj-Chirag Receive Khel Ratna Award From Sports Minister

On May 1, 2025, Indian badminton duo Satwiksairaj Rankireddy and Chirag Shetty were conferred with the prestigious Major Dhyan Chand Khel Ratna Award by Union Sports Minister Dr. Mansukh Mandaviya in New Delhi. The award ceremony, delayed due to their prior tournament commitments and personal bereavements, recognized their exceptional contributions to Indian badminton.In 2023, Satwik and Chirag achieved a historic milestone by becoming the first Indian men’s doubles pair to attain the World No. 1 ranking in the Badminton World Federation (BWF) standings. Their remarkable year included clinching the Asian Games gold medal in Hangzhou, securing the Asian Championships title, and winning the prestigious Indonesia Open Super 1000 tournament. They also hold the distinction of being the only Indian doubles pair to win a BWF World Tour Super 1000 title.​ The Khel Ratna Award, India’s highest sporting honor, celebrates athletes who have demonstrated outstanding performance on the international stage.
