On Saturday, police reported that a case was filed against Jasna Salim, an artist recognized for her paintings of Lord Krishna, for allegedly breaching the prohibition on recording videos within the Guruvayur temple grounds.
Jasna Salim, a passionate follower of Lord Krishna, created numerous paintings of young Lord Krishna and presented one to Prime Minister Narendra Modi during his visit to Thrissur last year.
As reported by the Guruvayur Temple Police, the woman recently recorded a video after decorating an idol of Lord Krishna—situated above the offering box at the eastern entrance of the temple—with a garland. As the images spread on social media, the temple officials alerted the police with a report, and a case was filed against her on March 10.
Authorities stated that she broke a recent High Court decision which found that recording such videos on shrine grounds and posting them on social media is unacceptable. Jasna was charged with multiple sections of the BNS, including Section 192 (incitement with the intention to incite a riot), police reported.
Jasna had previously stirred controversy when she sliced a cake near the Guruvayur temple and tried to record a video of the event.
