Pakistan has announced that it successfully tested a surface-to-surface ballistic missile with a range of 450 kilometers on Saturday. The missile, referred to as the Abdali Weapon System, was fired during Exercise INDUS, according to Islamabad.
Pakistan’s missile test occurs against the backdrop of increasing tensions with India following the Pahalgam terror incident. Sources stated that India considers any missile test conducted by the neighboring country to be a serious provocation.
“The launch was aimed at ensuring the operational readiness of troops and validating key technical parameters, including the missile’s advanced navigation system and enhanced manoeuvrability features,” the Pakistani government said.
Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and other military chiefs have expressed “complete confidence” in the operational readiness and technical proficiency of the forces to safeguard the country’s national security, it added.
Pakistan has been attempting to instigate India through frequent ceasefire breaches along the Line of Control, which divides the Pakistan-occupied Kashmir from the International Border shared by the two nations. India had responded effectively to all such efforts.
Additionally, inflammatory remarks and warmongering from Pakistani officials have persisted since the Pahalgam incidents.
Pakistan’s Information Minister Ataullah Tara asserted that India was intending to launch an attack within 36 hours. More than 72 hours have passed since then. On April 29, the defense minister stated a comparable assertion: “If something needs to occur, it will take place in 2-3 days.”
India has prohibited all imports from Pakistan as well. Vessels flying the Pakistani flag have also been prohibited from accessing Indian waters.
