On Sunday, Indian military officials conducted a press conference to share significant information about Operation Sindoor, its effects and outcomes, stating that the “goal has been accomplished.” The briefing regarding Operation Sindoor featured Air Marshal AK Bharti, DGMO Lt Gen Rajiv Ghai, Maj Gen SS Sharma, and Vice Admiral AN Pramod.

Responding to reports that Rafale fighter jets were downed during Operation Sindoor, Air Marshal AK Bharti did not confirm or deny the claims, stating instead that “losses are a part of any combat scenario.”

Indian military said on Sunday, “We are in a combat scenario and losses are a part of it. Question is have we achieved our objective? Answer is a thumping yes. As for details, at this time I would not like to comment on that as we are still in combat and give advantage to adversary. All our pilots are back home.

The officers stated that the Pakistan Army has indicated a loss of around 35 to 40 personnel due to artillery and small arms fire on the Line of Control from May 7 to May 10. What the opposing side likely had not anticipated was the swift and accurate response, stated the Indian military.

The officers informed that five casualties Indian military suffered in the operations against Pakistan.

“I pay my solemn homage to my five colleagues and brothers from the armed forces, and civilians who have tragically lost their lives in operations in world. Our hearts go out to the bereaved families… and we express our solidarity to them in this lifetime and beyond. At this grave juncture in their lives, their sacrifices shall always be remembered and spoken of in glowing terms by a grateful nation,” one of the officers said.

Following more than three days of intense gunfire, India and Pakistan on Saturday came to an ‘understanding’ to promptly cease all military operations and firing on land, air, and sea. The truce, initially declared by US President Donald Trump on Saturday, was breached by Pakistan just hours after, with drones being intercepted in areas of Jammu, Srinagar, Punjab, and Rajasthan.

The military clash began when Islamabad deployed drones and missiles into Indian territory, in retaliation for the Operation Sindoor military attacks executed by New Delhi on nine terrorist facilities in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir on May 7. Operation Sindoor was initiated in response to the April 22 terrorist assault in Pahalgam, Jammu and Kashmir, where terrorists with connections to Pakistan killed 26 civilians.
