‘No Regrets’: Aamir Khan On Not Charging Fees For Box Office Failures
9th May 2025

Bollywood superstar Aamir Khan has revealed that he hasn’t charged an acting fee for over two decades, opting instead for a profit-sharing model. He explained, “From the last 20 years, I have stopped taking film fees as an actor. I only earn if the film does well” . This approach ensures that if a film fails, he doesn’t earn, thereby protecting producers from financial losses. Khan likens this to the traditional European model where artists earn based on audience appreciation. This strategy allows him creative freedom to experiment with diverse roles without burdening the film’s budget . Notably, he waived his fee for “Laal Singh Chaddha,” absorbing potential losses of nearly ₹100 crore . Khan’s model underscores a commitment to responsible filmmaking and sets a precedent for equitable profit-sharing in the industry.
