The Cannes Film Festival and Kering have declared that actress Nicole Kidman will receive the Women in Motion Award as its 10th honoree. This esteemed award acknowledges female artists who promote the role of women in film and society. The ceremony for the awards will occur on May 18 at an elegant gala within the festival.

Kidman’s dedication to collaborating with female directors has been noted as a factor in her choice. In 2017, she committed to collaborating with a female director every 18 months, but has now surpassed that target, working with almost 20 female directors.

Her dedication to advancing female representation in film has established her as a strong embodiment of what Women in Motion has championed for the last ten years, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

Kering’s chairman and CEO, Francois-Henri Pinault, commended Kidman.

They said, “Through her artistic standards, her committed choices and her concrete action to change representations in cinema, she is a powerful illustration of what Women In Motion has been defending for a decade,”.

Kidman expressed her gratitude, calling it a “true honour” to receive the award. “I am proud to join this list of extraordinary women who’ve received this honor before me—artists and trailblazers I deeply admire,” she added

Kidman is added to a lineup of distinguished honorees, such as Donna Langley, Jane Fonda, Patty Jenkins, Geena Davis, Susan Sarandon, Viola Davis, Michelle Yeoh, and Salma Hayek Pinault.

At the same time, Kidman will appear in a new season of ‘Nine Perfect Strangers’ on Hulu, a series for which she serves as an executive producer. She has future projects on the way, such as ‘Margo’s Got Money Troubles’ alongside Elle Fanning and ‘Scarpetta’ with Jamie Lee Curtis.
