A troubling video captures an Indian student restrained with handcuffs and held on the floor at Newark Airport in the USA prior to his deportation. The video was posted on social media by Indian-American entrepreneur Kunal Jain, who mentioned that the young boy was in tears and was treated as a “criminal” by officials. Jain urged the Indian Embassy in the United States to investigate the situation and assist the student.

“I witnessed a young Indian student being deported from Newark Airport last night— handcuffed, crying, treated like a criminal,” he Wrote.

“He came chasing dreams, not causing harm. As an NRI, I felt helpless and heartbroken. This is a human tragedy,” added Kunal Jain, President of HealthBots AI.

According to Jain, the incident took place at Newark Airport in New Jersey. Visuals shared by him show the Indian man pinned to the floor by authorities. One photograph shows a police officer wearing a cap that reads “Port Authority Police”.

The Police Department of the Port Authority (PAPD) is a law enforcement agency focused on transit in New York and New Jersey. Its responsibility is to safeguard the Port Authority’s essential infrastructure, including airports, bridges, tunnels, bus stations, seaports, rail systems, and the World Trade Center area. It is the biggest police force associated with transit in the United States.

In subsequent posts, the NRI mentioned that the student involved seemed to be conversing in Haryanavi. He mentioned that there have been multiple similar instances of Indians being deported in recent weeks. He credited it to their inability to clarify the purpose of their visit.

“These children get their visas and get on a flight in the morning. For some reason, they are unable to explain the reason for their visit to the immigration authorities and are sent back on the evening flight tied up like criminals. Every day 3-4 such cases are happening. There have been more such cases in the last few days,” Jain wrote.
