Indian Army Permits Eid Prayers on Kolkata’s Red Road After Talks with Organisers

News Mania Desk / 4th June 2025

The Indian Army has granted permission for Eid-ul-Adha prayers to be held on Kolkata’s iconic Red Road, following discussions with the event organisers and local authorities. Initially, concerns were raised over security and logistical issues due to the road’s proximity to military installations and its significance as a ceremonial route. However, after a series of meetings and coordination with the state government and Kolkata Police, the Army agreed to allow the religious gathering, respecting the sentiments of the Muslim community.
The Red Road, traditionally used for major parades and events, has previously hosted Eid prayers but required formal approval from military authorities this year. Organisers assured strict adherence to safety protocols and public order. The decision reflects a balance between national security and cultural harmony, underscoring the Army’s commitment to upholding unity and religious freedom while ensuring public safety.
