EU Decisions on Alleged Apple, Meta Tech Rule Breaches Due in Coming Weeks, Antitrust Chief Says

In the coming weeks, an EU ruling on whether Apple and Meta have violated significant tech regulations designed to limit their market dominance will be announced, said antitrust head Teresa Ribera to European Parliament legislators on Tuesday.
Since March of last year, the European Commission has been looking into Apple and Meta Platforms for possible violations of the Digital Markets Act (DMA), which outlines a series of rules for tech giants aimed at fostering competition and providing consumers with greater options.
Sources informed last month that both companies are likely to incur minimal fines due to DMA violations.
Escalating trade conflicts between the United States and the EU regarding President Donald Trump’s tariffs have prompted an initial reaction from the EU, with the likelihood of additional measures ahead, as some member nations like France aim to focus on US services.
