The 26-year-old stepson of senior BJP leader Dilip Ghosh was discovered deceased at his New Town home on Tuesday morning.

Srinjoy Dasgupta was employed at an IT company. According to sources, the family chef found him “unresponsive.” He was swiftly taken to a local private hospital, where he was pronounced dead upon arrival.

Authorities have logged a case of unnatural death and stated they are waiting for the autopsy results. Sources indicated that the autopsy doctor stated that Srinjoy passed away from acute hemorrhagic pancreatitis. Rinku Majumdar, who wed Dilip Ghosh last month, mentioned that Srinjoy was discovered lying on his back.

Srinjoy’s uncle on his mother’s side, Paritosh Shil, stated that the two had arranged to meet on Tuesday at Science City. Shil mentioned that Srinjoy contacted him on Monday night, around 10 pm, stating he was “fatigued from work” but assured him they would meet the following morning.

Shil mentioned that on Tuesday, his numerous attempts to contact his nephew were ignored. He learned of his demise from the cook. He also mentioned that he “accepted” Dilip Ghosh as his father, highlighting the “emotional void” in his life and his happiness at having a father figure.

Rinku Majumdar informed reporters that her son had been afflicted with a neurological condition and had been taking medication for the past year and a half.

She also mentioned that her son might experience “severe stress” after she married and moved out of the flat to live with Ghosh in his home. “I learned that he was not eating well or taking his medications.” “He never mentioned it, but as a mother, I sensed that he was feeling down,” Rinku stated. Majumdar also mentioned that she intended to bring Srinjay to her current place of residence.

“He never told me that he was upset after the marriage. His friends asked me to take him with me… I was about to do that,” Rinku said, referring to the ‘Mother’s Day’ celebrations organised by Srijay and the gifts he presented to her on that occasion.

Ghosh expressed deep grief over the sudden demise of his “son” and said that he could not understand how to deal with the loss.

“It’s my bad luck. I am so very unfortunate. I never had the happiness of having a son, but I am mourning the demise. Srinjay was close to me. We went to watch matches. We were fond of each other,” Ghosh said.

Srinjay’s father, who lives in Halisahar in the North 24 Parganas district of West Bengal, also went to the RG Kar Hospital. “He spoke to me a week back and told me that he would be coming home… I do not know what to say,” the father said.
