On Monday, the Border Security Force (BSF) apprehended a Pakistani citizen for unlawfully crossing into India from the Gurdaspur district in Punjab. The individual was captured in Gujranwala close to Thakarpur village, located near the India-Pakistan international boundary.

Husnain was apprehended during a regular patrol by the BSF. A Pakistani identification card was discovered in his possession. Additional inquiries by the BSF personnel showed that he had crossed the border accidentally, and they found no suspicious items on him.

“BSF personnel apprehended a Pakistani national after he crossed the international border near Thakarpur village in Gurdaspur. Interrogation revealed that he crossed the border unintentionally and nothing suspicious was found on him,” sources from the BSF said.

The man has been transferred to the Punjab Police for additional inquiry, with officials scrutinizing all facets of the case to eliminate any possible conspiracy or security failure. Typically, cases of civilians from both sides crossing the border and subsequently being sent back to their home countries happen often. In light of the recent terrorist attack in Pahalgam, Jammu and Kashmir on April 22 that resulted in 26 fatalities, the BSF has intensified safety protocols.
