Adani Group intends to create a transportation system within the Dharavi redevelopment initiative in Mumbai, integrating rail, road, and airport transit services at one site. A significant aspect will be the airport trains along with check-in and transit amenities for travelers heading to and from the Mumbai and Navi Mumbai airports, as stated by Navbharat Mega Developers Pvt, the project entity where Adani Group owns an 80 percent share and the state government retains the remainder.

The Adani Group manages both airports, and flight services from Navi Mumbai are set to start later this year. The “multi-modal transit hub” will feature inter- and intra-city rail, metro services, and city buses, among other options, stated Navbharat Mega Developers. Last October, Maharashtra state in India sanctioned the purchase of 256 acres of salt-pan land in northeast Mumbai, supporting the Adani Group’s initiative to redevelop Dharavi, one of Asia’s largest slums.

The state government approved the master plan for Dharavi earlier this week. Besides transportation systems and upgraded roads, there are initiatives to create a riverfront walkway by the Mithi River to the north of Dharavi, a network of healthcare facilities, parks, industrial areas, and communal leisure spaces, as stated on Saturday.
