U.S. President Donald Trump stated that Vladimir Putin had “gone absolutely CRAZY ” by launching the most extensive airstrike of the conflict against Ukraine and mentioned he was considering new sanctions on Moscow, although he also criticized Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskiy.

Trump shared the comment on Truth Social as Ukrainians, who were asleep, awakened to their third straight night of significant Russian aerial assaults, spending hours listening to drones humming close to their residences and the sounds of Ukrainian anti-aircraft fire erupting.

The Ukrainian air force reported that Russia had fired 355 drones and nine cruise missiles at Ukraine overnight, a significant strike that the air force’s representative told Reuters was Russia’s biggest drone assault of the conflict so far.

The Kremlin, asked about Trump’s specific remarks about Putin being “crazy”, thanked the U.S. people and Trump in person for their assistance in launching peace negotiations but suggested Trump and others might be emotionally overloaded.

“This is a very crucial moment, which is associated, of course, with the emotional overload of everyone absolutely and with emotional reactions,” Kremlin spokesman said.

Both sides are deploying swarms of drones as intense combat rages in crucial areas of the front. The Ukrainian air force reported that the nighttime Russian assault struck targets in five areas, though it did not provide further details, suggesting military damage.

Officials reported that seven cruise missiles and numerous drones struck the western area of Khmelnytskyi, where a military airbase is located, damaging residential structures and industrial sites. A 14-year-old boy was said to be hurt in the Black Sea area of Odesa.

The Russian defense ministry announced that its attack struck objectives at the Starokostiantyniv airbase in the Khmelnytskyi region of Ukraine. The Kremlin stated that the assaults were aimed at military objectives and claimed that the strikes were a reaction to major Ukrainian assaults on Russian civilian sites.

In a message on X, Zelenskiy did not directly respond to Trump’s criticism, but remarked that it seemed the world was investing more energy in discussions with Putin rather than genuinely applying pressure on the leader of the Kremlin. Zelenskiy stated that Russia can only be limited through force and reiterated the need for more sanctions against Russia.
