A burnt corpse was discovered late Thursday evening in Thiruvananthapuram district of Kerala. The police stated that the body was subsequently recognized as belonging to a 50-year-old woman from the area. According to the police, local residents found the body in an empty area in Kaimanam after they heard a scream and quickly notified the authorities.
A representative from the Karamana police station verified the finding of the charred body after conducting a search of the vicinity. A relative of the woman later verified that the body was indeed hers. The police initiated an inquiry to find out if the death was due to murder or suicide.
The cousin, talking to a local TV channel, disclosed that the deceased was involved with a man residing in the neighborhood. Since her family did not approve of the relationship, she had been residing in a hostel. He voiced skepticism regarding the likelihood of suicide, stating, “Let the police investigate and find it out.”
Authorities indicated that the body will undergo a postmortem examination following the conclusion of the inquest proceedings.
In February, the remains of an elderly couple were discovered inside their home in Alappuzha. The authorities detained their son under suspicion of arson regarding the house. As per the police, Vijay, the son, often clashed with his parents, Raghavan (96) and Bharathi (86), regarding property issues.
In a comparable case, last January in Telangana, a woman’s corpse with 90 percent burns was discovered on a road heading to farmland in Moinabad in the Rangareddy district. In that scenario, the police believed she was murdered in a different location and her body was transported to the area before being set ablaze.
“The Commission correctly applied the finding guidelines, and when in doubt, opted in Intel’s favour,” its lawyer Pedro Caro de Sousa said.
“The fine is clearly not disproportionate to the seriousness of Intel’s conduct, amounting to 1% of its turnover on the last year of the infringement, and about 0.5% of its turnover today,” he said.
Both Intel and the Commission called on the court to resolve the issue by setting the size of the fine. A ruling is expected in the coming months. The case is 09:30 T-1129/23 Intel Corporation v Commission.
