“WE ARE BEING DROWNED IN AN OCEAN OF GAMBLING AND BETTING, WITH THE YOUTH AS THE PRIMARY TARGET”- Bobby Chakraborty

Bobby Chakraborty, an award winning actor,activist and teacher of method acting from Kolkata – India, takes up his pen and his powerful social awareness program against addiction and harmful social trends among the youth, titled ‘I AM THE KING OF MY MIND’ ,to combat this extremely well crafted conspiracy, to drown and destroy the youth of our nation, in an ocean of gambling and betting, through games.

Here is what he had to say :-

“Is it only me who is feeling alarmed and threatened by this onslaught of hundreds of gambling/betting games, apps and advertisements on all types of media platforms, this IPL season or otherwise? Is it only me who realizes that it’s a careful ploy to destroy the honest ambition within the youth to work hard for a living? Is it only me who is fighting against this monster called ‘Gambling / Betting’ actively and not sitting at home as an irresponsible silent spectator? Seems like yes, it is me and perhaps very very few like me!!

Before we proceed further, we need to understand the word ‘gambling/betting’ , exactly the same way I explain to a child, within my preventive awareness program in schools. The sooner a child is explained this, the better are the chances of the child not surrendering to this monster, doing irreparable damage to his/her life and career.

Definition:-

When someone wants to earn money, by investing money, not by any hard, honest work, but only by chance, that’s called ‘gambling/betting’. It is like a person buying a Rs 5 lottery ticket, to earn Rs 5 crores , not through his hardwork, but by chance! So if that attempt fails, the monster within him urges him to buy a Rs 500 ticket, then 5000,then 50,000 , then 5 lakhs, then 50 lakhs…till he has sold off everything and everyone he has around him!

This monster, which I have encountered myself in closed quarters as a child, within my family, where I have seen my younger uncle, falling prey to it and selling off everything from my grandmother’s gold ornaments, furnitures, car, land, house , virtually everything…is possibly the most destructive monster beyond smoking and alcoholism, which can wreak havoc in a person’s life. The food of this monster is ‘money’, but it stops the person to work hard to earn it, makes the person live by chance and in the bid to get that money, more often than not a young boy/girl becomes a criminal. That’s exactly the plan of these dark forces of the society…to make ‘criminals’ out of the youth,who are our future and make them unambitious vegetables.

Adding to that are these absolutely socially irresponsible, so called ‘celebrities’ , who have no dearth of money or fame, but for a few bucks more, these personalities are selling their souls to the devil, by promoting these gambling/betting apps and games, sending a direct and impressionable message to young minds to surrender to the monster!!

If you ask me, I believe that… if God Almighty has given me fame and recognition, He has given me added responsibility with that power too. He has given me the platform to spread light and only light, especially to the youth, who are the pillars of our society and not to misguide them towards darkness.

It’s absolutely a sad sight to see our favourite game ‘cricket’ being hijacked by gambling/betting mafias and companies! With hundreds of terrifying incidents all around,of young people especially… destroying themselves, their families, ending their lives, getting assassinated etc. after they are getting trapped by this monster, I feel it is high time that The Indian Government should ban all these apps and games and truly search for worthy sponsorers, the upcoming cricket tournaments.”
