9-year-old girl from Assam is 2nd runner-up at ‘Britain’s Got Talent’

Guwahati, Nine-year-old Binita Chetry from Assam attained the second runner-up spot in the reality competition ‘Britain’s Got Talent’, completing a journey from a tiny village in the hill district of Karbi Anglong to one of the largest stages globally. Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma congratulated the dancing talent, stating that she has made everyone proud with her success.
“Dancing her way to glory. Many congratulations to our very own #BinitaChetry on securing the 3rd spot at #BGTFinal,” he said in a post on X.
“Her performances have mesmerised audiences from the Brahmaputra to the Thames and made us all proud,” Sarma said, wishing her the best in future endeavours.
Binita achieved the second runner-up spot in the reality show finale that took place on Saturday night, with her family asserting that she is the first contestant from India to advance to the final stage of the show.
British magician Harry Moulding triumphed in the competition, with the LED dance group ‘The Blackouts’ taking second place. In a video shared on BGT’s official social media channels, Binita expressed her gratitude to her supporters and social media followers, particularly thanking UK viewers for their votes and for supporting her journey.
She mentioned that the support from India, Nepal, Bhutan, and other Asian nations provided her the motivation to progress on the world stage. Expressing her appreciation for Chief Minister Sarma, Binita stated she hopes to meet him in person to thank him for his assistance and blessings.
Binita also recognized the help provided by Tuliram Ronghang, the Chief Executive Member of the Karbi Anglong Autonomous Council, who offered ₹5 lakh in financial aid for her finale preparations, and from local MLA and deputy speaker of Assam Legislative Assembly, Numal Momin.
