23 active Covid-19 cases in Delhi, no need to panic: Health Minister

With a rise in Covid-19 cases in various regions of India, Delhi has reported 23 active cases of new coronavirus infection as of Thursday, Health Minister Pankaj Singh announced on Friday.
Singh stated that all of these cases were reported following tests carried out at private laboratories, noting that it remains to be determined if these cases originated in Delhi or were brought in from outside the city.
“In the wake of the number of cases reported, we are in constant touch with medical superintendents of all hospitals in Delhi. The Delhi government is fully prepared to tackle any situation. There is no need to panic as the latest variant looks like a common influenza only,” Singh said while speaking to the media.

Kerala has recorded the highest increase in Covid-19 cases, with 182 infections reported in the state to date in May. Mumbai has reported 53 active cases, with no recent fatalities linked to the infection.
On Monday, the health services director general led a review meeting with specialists from the National Centre for Disease Control, the Emergency Medical Relief division, the Disaster Management Cell, the Indian Council of Medical Research, and central government hospitals.
In the meantime, hospitals have been directed to track cases of influenza-like illnesses and severe acute respiratory infections.
