JITO Ahimsa Run 2.0 Successfully Promotes Peace and Fitness in Salt Lake

The esteemed Arun Lal, former National Indian Cricketer and Currently Bengal Coach, graced the occasion as Chief Guests

Kolkata, 31st March 2024: JITO (Jain International Trade Organization) proudly announced the successful conclusion of the highly anticipated JITO Ahimsa Run 2.0, which took place on 31st March, starting from The Stadel Hotel, Salt Lake. This event aimed to promote the message of non-violence while fostering a spirit of health and fitness among participants of all ages.

The esteemed Arun Lal, former National Indian Cricketer and Currently Bengal Coach, graced the occasion as Chief Guests, adding prestige and excitement to this celebration of peace and fitness. Guests of Honor included Sunil Kr. Mehta (Ex Dir. of Finance, Coal India) and Probir Sarker (Para-athlete).

 The event featured three exciting variants catering to individuals of varying fitness levels: the 3K Fun Run, the 5K Timed Run, and the challenging 10K Timed Run. Participants, ranging from 12 years of age up to 84 year-old seasoned walkers, as well as running groups, solo enthusiasts, and families from across West Bengal, enthusiastically registered for this exhilarating event.

 The Ahimsa Run 2.0 commenced with an electrifying opening ceremony at 5:30 am, followed by the flag-off for the 10K run at 5:45 am, the 5K Flag off was at 6:10 am, and the 3K flag off at 6:30 am. Participants were provided with timing bibs to ensure accurate tracking of their performance throughout the run.

Arun Lal, former National Indian Cricketer and Cricket Commentator said, “Participating in events like the Ahimsa Run not only promotes physical well-being but also fosters a sense of compassion within our society. It’s heartening to witness individuals from all walks of life and various fitness levels coming together to promote peace and fitness. I congratulate JITO for organizing such a meaningful event and commend all the participants for their dedication and enthusiasm.  Bhaven Kamdar, Chairman of JITO, reflected on the significance of the inaugural JITO Ahimsa Run as the organization’s flagship event, stating, “The Ahimsa Run represents a profound milestone in JITO’s mission to foster a world of compassion and wellness. As our inaugural flagship event, it signifies our commitment to promoting peace and unity through tangible action.  Rohit Surana, Chief Secretary of JITO said, “The Ahimsa Run epitomizes the Jain values of non-violence and unity. Sheetal Dugar, Ladies Wing Apex Secretary of JITO, expressed her satisfaction with the increased participation of women in the Ahimsa Run, stating, “We are delighted to see female involvement for Ahimsa Run. We hope to continue this trend and encourage even more women to join us in promoting peace and fitness in the future.”
